Emily Jean Haviland, 24, of Biggsville, died at 5:30 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg. Born July 10, 1993, at home in Lebanon, OR, she was the daughter of Michael Bradley and Dawn Freeman Haviland. She worked as a licensed tattoo artist.

She graduated from Monmouth-Roseville High School in 2012. In high school she was a member of 4-H and the Civil Air Patrol. Emily was a volunteer firefighter in Biggsville, IL.

She loved riding her motorcycle and going to the shooting range in Monmouth. She enjoyed being outdoors, going camping, hiking, gardening and growing flowers. She loved animals, especially her dog Buster.

Survivors include her mother and step-father, Dawn (Barry) Watkins of Burlington; Fiancé, Branden Buchanan of Biggsville, IL; maternal grandmother, Barbara Laswell of Sarasota, FL; maternal grandfather, William “Mike” (Angela) Smith of Macomb, IL; two brothers, Luke (Letitia George) Haviland of Aledo, IL, and John Haviland of Burlington; two step-brothers, Jordan Watkins of Yates City, IL, and Alex Watkins of Champaign, IL; one nephew, Kylo Haviland; and many aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lane Laswell, and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The funeral service for Ms. Haviland will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 29, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Jan Garza officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
