Emily Timer of Laurens, went home to the loving arms of her Savior on Friday October 19, 2018. She was born on February 27, 1926 in Flushing, NY; a daughter of the late Paul and Eva (Kovacovic) Mednansky, Sr. On June 18, 1950 Emily united into holy matrimony with her lifelong partner Albert Timer, Sr. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Laurens. Emily was the consummate Mother and farm wife, helping her husband Albert run the family farm, raising 6 wonderful children, and creating the most beautiful flower and vegetable gardens in Otsego County.

She loved birds, wildlife (when not eating her gardens) and Nature. Emily was known for her “Green Thumb”, her delicious meals, her amazing baking skills (“Ton Cakes” and pies were always requested), and her warm, open and welcoming home. Emily’s greatest joy was first and foremost her family.

Her door was always open, and all were guaranteed hugs, laughter and good food when you came into her kitchen. She loved to decorate and celebrate every holiday. Creative Halloween costumes (her annual “Bag Lady” get up was a classic), unique birthday cakes and homemade holiday decorations were her delight.

She enjoyed sewing, and expertly created beautiful yo-yo quilts, tablecloths and pillows for her loved ones. She will be deeply missed by all those she loved. Please consider planting a flower in your garden in Emily’s memory.

Emily is survived by her six children, Albert (Lee) Timer, Jr., Marilyn Garman, Betty (Les) Burgess, John (Melanie) Timer, Maryanne (Mark) Timer and Jim (Kim) Timer; grandchildren, Josh, Jennifer, Crystal, Zac and Travis; great-grandchildren, Kinze and Kasten; dear sister Matilda (Jack) Kostbar; sister-in-laws, Sally, Bertha, Wanda and Lillian and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Emily was predeceased by her grandson, Adam Burgess; siblings, Ellen, Paul, Steve and John Mednansky and her son-in-law Herb Garman. Friends and family are welcome to attend her graveside service at Laurens Village Cemetery on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 12:00 Noon, with the Rev.
