Obituary for Emma Jane Tribe Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, so loved, so missed so very dear…. Emma Jane Tribe, 90, of Owego passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
Emma was born on December 31, 1927 in Endicott, NY a daughter of the late William Julius DeHaas and Frances Marie (May) McKibbin. A loving wife, a devoted mother and caring grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother her greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her family. Emma was member of the Waverly Nazarene Church.
She was a collector of Salt & Pepper Shakers and Cape Cod Glass, enjoyed watching the Yankee’s and listening to wind chimes. Emma will be greatly missed by her children: Sharon A. Kraft of Newark Valley; Frances Riddle of Arkansas; Marcella F. Tribe of Owego; Mary Jane Howe of Cleveland, Ohio; David K. Tribe of Waverly, NY; John F. Tribe of Ocala, Florida; Nancy N. Austin of Millport, NY; Tammy L. Tribe of Citra, Florida; Teresa M. Kelly of Owego; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, seventeen great great grandchildren. Emma was predeceased by her first husband John Frederick Kelly; second husband Marvin Francis Tribe; her children: Marvin F. Tribe, Lori A. Simmons, Doris J. Kelly, Emma Jane Arnold; granddaughter Stacy Wytrva; infant grandsons: John Charles Tinkham; great grandson Chad Arnold; siblings: Richard William DeHaas, Kenneth Leon DeHaas, and Harold Herbert DeHaas.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Wednesday, October 3rd from 10 to 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of Emma’s life will follow at 11 am with Pastor Ronald Golden, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Nichols Cemetery.
