Emma’s Obituary 88 year old Emma Ruth Scurlock of Smithville passed away Monday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star and the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.

Bernard Houk will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the service at 4 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Nettie Certain Vanatta; husband, Austin Scurlock; child, Larry Scurlock; brothers, Homer, Omar, and Tom Vanatta; grandchildren, Jonathan Scurlock, Jacob, and Daniel Caldwell. Survivors include three daughters, Janice Johnson and Pam Miller both of Smithville and Donna and Terry Caldwell of Rock Island.

Two sons, Jeff and Debbie Scurlock and Danny and Teresa Scurlock of Smithville. Twelve grandchildren, Sondra and Donald Stanley of Smithville, Eric Johnson of Smithville, Bradley and Lynn Miller of Watertown, Brandon and Becky Miller of Smithville, Doug and Crystal Scurlock of Kentucky, Lori Young of Kentucky, Crystal Scurlock and Dana Holland of McMinnville. Seven great grandchildren.

Daughter-in-law, Peggy Scurlock of Kentucky and special friend Nancy Hale of Ohio. Donations may be made to the Banks Cemetery.
