Enriqu Lun Salas , February 22, 1929 — January 31, 2019

Enrique Luna Salas, 89, passed away on January 31, 2019 at his home in San Pedro, CA. Enrique was born on February 22, 1929 to Luis and Francisca (Luna) Salas in Aguascalientes, Mexico, the oldest of six children. Enrique met his beautiful bride, Francisca “Panchita” Ramirez, while walking through Parque Agua Azul, Guadalajara, MX in December 1949 and fell immediately in love, they married shortly afterwards on February 20, 1950.

They were married 66 years until his bride went home to be with Jesus in June 2016. They had nine children. Enrique was a resident of San Pedro, CA for 58 years, as well as being a proud naturalized American citizen he was a proud Longshoreman.

Enrique loved working on the docks, his signature mark was his ILWU caps, shirts and jackets. He would not leave home without one or the other. Family was most important to Enrique.

A master carpenter it brought him great joy making furniture for his family and remodeling his home alongside his children to accommodate the large family and visiting relatives, he enjoyed family BBQ’, impromptu gatherings and fiestas. After his retirement as longshoreman Enrique loved traveling to various countries with his wonderful wife and friends from the Senior’s Center club and trips to Mexico to visit family with his children. Enrique is survived by eight children, Fred, Alicia, Luis, Frank, Jose, Cristina, William and George, including sons and daughters-in-law; two sisters, Margarita Ramirez and Rosa Snider; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Henry; grandchildren, Theresa and Henry III; parents, two sisters, Theresa and Angela and brother, Jose Luis. A special thank you to Carlos Espinoza and Tina Salas for their loving care throughout his illness and TrinityCare Hospice for their support during his final days. Evening service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at McNerney’s Mortuary, visitation from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.

Message by son Frank Salas and son-in-law, Alfredo Aceves at 6pm and rosary at 7pm. Funeral service for Enrique will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 10:15 am. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
