Choteau businessman Eric Steven Greyn, 35, known for his kind and friendly personality, died on Jan. 5, 2019, of injuries sustained in an avalanche west of Choteau, where he had been snowmobiling with friends in the beautiful mountains that he loved. The memorial service is Jan.

10 at 11 a.m. at the New Life Church in Choteau. A reception at the church will be held after the memorial service and a private committal service at the Choteau Cemetery. Asper Funeral Home in Conrad is handling arrangements.

A public viewing will be held Wednesday, January 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Choteau Baptist Church. Eric was born on Nov. 23, 1983, in Choteau to Larry and Sharon Greyn.

He attended Choteau Elementary School and graduated from Choteau High School with the class of 2002. After high school, he took a year off and traveled widely. Then he returned to Choteau and resumed working with his family at Greyn Fertilizer.

Eric stood 6-foot-five and had a large heart full of love and kindness toward people from family to strangers. He would stop and help anyone change a tire and was always giving hitchhikers rides. On July 13, 2013, Eric married the love of his life, Andrea Colesworthy, in Choteau and became a devoted father and husband.

One of the best parts of Eric’s life was the time he spent with Andrea and their children. He loved spending time with their sons, taking them to work with him and riding in the truck together. As a family, they took many trips together and never missed a chance to play miniature golf wherever they found a course.

Slow to anger, quick to smile, and always ready with a kind word or helping hand, Eric was a friend to all. When he and his family traveled, he always found someone he knew to talk with and deeply enjoyed visiting with friends and meeting new people. Known for his kindness and generosity, Eric poured himself into strengthening relationships between people and was always concerned about everyone else.

While he was in high school, he started a tradition of giving every girl in school a carnation on Valentine’s Day and was known for sending people flowers. Working with his father in the family fertilizer business from a young age, Eric gained a reputation for hauling oversized loads of equipment by semi truck. His travels gained him friends in all corners of the United States.

His customers, friends and family were used to hearing him say, “Thank you! Do you know how much I appreciate you? ” Eric loved living a full life, experienced through world travel and outdoor activities, but most of all, he loved his family.

Eric is survived by his wife of Choteau; children, Jagger, Maddox and Trent, all of Choteau; his parents of Choteau; a brother, Cory (Marlene) Welch of Belgrade; sisters, Holly (Tony) Collins of Great Falls and Rose Ann (Brian) Carlson of Choteau; and many nieces, nephews and relatives in his large extended family. Everyone who knew Eric is welcome to attend his memorial service and celebrate his life. Eric would want to leave everyone with the words he often spoke, “Have I told you lately how much I love you?
