Ernest “Rowe” Bumgarner, age 81, of Taylorsville passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at his home. He was born January 27, 1938, the son of the late Norris and Clara Bumgarner. He was a loving husband to his wife Faye of 52 years.

Who was also his caregiver for the past 19 years. He worked at Trio Supermarket for 10 years, then for Tommy’s Market on Hwy 90 for 10 years. He was a faithful member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church all his life, where he served as the church clerk and Sunday school teacher of the Adult Men’s Class.

Rowe loved all things cars. He was an avid reader especially car magazine’s and loved the cruising days with his buddies in his Corvair’s. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Ellen Willis and Bonnie Chapman; brother-in-law Fred Chapman; and son-in-law Nelson Hoyle.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory including his wife Faye Crouch Bumgarner; one son Ernie Bumgarner & wife Karen; two daughters Roxanne Hoyle Johnson & husband James and Angela Wooten & husband David, all of Taylorsville; one brother; James Bumgarner & wife Kay, three granddaughters Sara St.Clair & husband Dusty, Mara Hoyle & Samantha Bumgarner; four grandsons Justin & Joshua Wooten, Noah Hoyle, and Chandler Bumgarner; and one great grandson Ryder St.Clair. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 1, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with the Rev.

Rick Safriet and Rev. Allen Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers include: Justin & Joshua Wooten, Noah Hoyle, Chandler Bumgarner, Dusty St.Clair, and Zakary Hollar.
