Obituary of Ernest Recchia Ernest A. Recchia, age 83, of Stratford passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Rusakiewicz) Recchia. Born in Bridgeport on June 27, 1934, he was a son of the late Daniel and Jennie (Bredice) Recchia.

Ernest had been employed by American Chain in the maintenance department before his retirement with many years of dedicated service. He later worked as the head custodian at the Chapel Street School in Stratford for several additional years after his retirement. He was an avid fan and dedicated supporter of both the New York Yankees and UConn Women’s Basketball program.

He also loved Big Band Music and enjoyed watching old westerns. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa A. Hutter and her husband Robert of Fairfield and Maria A. Recchia of Stratford, his cherished granddaughter, Katherine Hutter, his sister-in-law, Margaret Recchia of Milford, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his beloved wife Joan, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Robert, John, Daniel and Alfred Recchia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. , Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
