Etta Mae Dukes May 12, 1935 – December 31, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Etta Mae Dukes, age 83, died on Monday, December 31, 2018, at her home. She was born in Willards to Aaron and Alma (Downs) Wilkins and was the oldest of six children. Etta grew up in Willards, married her teenage sweetheart, had three children, lived her whole life, and made her home on the Eastern Shore.

She enjoyed making crafts, shopping, and volunteering her time at a local church until her health declined. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers William “Billy Boy” Wilkins and Bruce Wilkins, first husband, Robert Ellis, great grand-daughter Paiten Phillips, and her late husband, Paynter Dukes. She is survived by her three children: Diane Ellis of Willards; Ray Ellis and wife Barbara of Gumboro; Charlene Brady and husband Dayne of Grand Cayman.

Her eight grandchildren and their families: Jami Truitt (Frank Cherrix) of Hebron; Christie (Doug) Conaway of Fortson, GA; Aaron (Amber) Ellis of Gumboro; Stacey Mitchell of WIllards; Erica Philips (Jason Lewis) of Ocean View; Jesse (Carla) Ellis of Gumboro; Brandon (Whitney) Brady of Salisbury; Tyler (Madison) Brady of Andrews Air Force Base. Her legacy also lives on in the lives of her sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grand-daughter. Her creativity, determination, and quick witted-ness will be missed by all who knew her.

Per Etta’s wishes there will be no memorial or remembrance services. Donations in her memory may be made to Willards Vol. Fire Co., 7370 Main St., Willards, MD 21874.
