Eugene’s Obituary Eugene “Gene” Rzab Age 84 Late of Iowa City, IA, formerly of Harvey, IL,Chesterton, IN and Midlothian, IL. Passed away on March 2nd 2019. He was born Sept.

5th, 1934 to Stanley and Genevieve (nee Szajner) Rzab in Harvey, IL. He married Shirley Szkaradeka May 23rd, 1959. They had three children, Marcia (Keith) Baker, Ken (Dennis Williams) Rzab and Steve (Teri Hines) Rzab.

After Shirley’s passing Gene married Margaret Jacobs on March 1st, 1986. He is mourned by her children Mary Jo (Joe) Duffy and Phil (Mary) Jacobs. He was a proud grandfather of Calvin (Kelsey), Ben and Zach (Emily) Baker, Jacob (Sol), Nathan and Logan Duffy, Dylan and Joe Jacobs and great-grandfather of Kayden and Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives and a brother Stanley Rzab. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines. Gene worked for over 30 years at Modern Drop Forge.

He had a second career in the grocery business first for Walt’s in Oak Forest, IL and then at HyVee in Iowa City, IA that lasted more than 20 years. He loved golfing, “ball hawking” and spending time with family. He was an avid Chicago sport fan and was able to see the Cubs World Series Trophy when it visited Iowa City.

Gene was loved by all who met him and had a smile for everyone. Funeral Saturday 9:30 AM from the Hickey Memorial Chapel 4201 W. 147th St. Midlothian to St. Christopher Church for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Visitation Friday 2 – 8 PM.
