Obituary for Eugene G. Fischer Eugene G. Fischer, 78, of East Moline, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at home with his wife and friends by his side. In keeping with Gene’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.

Eugene Gregory Fischer was born November 21, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Gregory and Elizabeth Fischer. He married Jill Matthews in 2002, in Rock Island. He retired from LSSC in St. Louis in 2000.

He loved putzing around in his yard, sudoku puzzles, and McDonald’s coffee. He enjoyed sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was proud to listen to his son, Rob, on sports talk radio and as a sideline reporter for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Gene is survived by his beloved wife, Jill; children, Ann (Bob) Antonacci, and Julie Cashel, all of St. Louis, and Rob (Dipti) Fischer of Memphis; step-children, Jason (Amanda) Matthews of Bettendorf, and Jessica (Brian) O’Hara of Port Byron; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their care, concern and kindness to Gene.
