Obituary for Eugene H. “Gene” Sands Eugene H. “Gene” Sands, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Doctor’s Hospital West. Gene was born on July 13, 1934 in Lake Mills, Wisconsin to Harry W. and Frieda L. (Schroeder) Sands. He graduated from Waukesha High School then entered the US Air Force where he proudly served his country.

Gene retired after 40 years from Battelle Memorial Institute as a Bio Chemical Lab Technician. He loved to travel, watch movies and was an avid Ohio State fan. Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine Sands; brother, John “Terry” Sands; brothers-in-law, John and Bill Wiseman.

Survived by his sister-in-law, Laura Sands; niece, Jennifer Sands; nephew, James Sands; cousins, Robert Sands and Sandra Zimmerman; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wiseman; nieces, Carolyn (Guy) Cline and Susan Wiseman; great niece, Lauren Cline. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 11:30 – 1:30 pm at HEART AND HOPE FUNERAL HOME by SCHOEDINGER, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 with funeral service to follow at 1:30 pm with Pastor Aaron McCombs officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
