Obituary for Evelyn C. Hughes Evelyn Calvert Hughes, 91, widow of James Marrice Hughes, passed away May 2, 2018. A native of Spartanburg County, daughter of the late J.E. “Chalk” and Sunie Nichols Calvert, she was a former employee of 36 years for J.P. Stevens Victor Plant, a retired employee of Inman Mills and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Johnny Hughes of Greer; three brothers, John Earl Calvert, Jr. of Forest City, North Carolina, Harry Calvert of Goose Creek and Rev.

C. Heyward Calvert of Inman; one sister, Ruth Hammett of Campobello; and a sister-in-law, Margie Elder of Greer. Mrs. Hughes was predeceased by six brothers, Dewey Leroy, Ralph, Bob, Carroll, Joe and Ray Calvert and two sisters, Marie Calvert and Margaret Cantrell. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by Rev.

Terry Greene and Rev. Heyward Calvert. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Honorary escorts will be the Mary Sunday School Class, Margaret Barton and Doris Forrester. Visitation will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family is at the home.
