Obituary for Evelyn C. Sheldon Evelyn C. Sheldon July 26, 1948-December 21, 2018 On Friday, December 21, 2018, the angels came and took her from her earthly pain to be with our Heavenly Father. She was born in Michigan City on July 26, 1948 to Ernest and Edna (Ihrk) Dingler. Both are deceased.
Survivors are her brother, Ernest (Marina) Dingler, two sisters, Jan Dingler and Jeanne (Tim) Bennett, her wonderful children, Colleen (Jon) Burke, Dave (Shari) Sheldon, twins Cristin (Tom) Newby and Carrie (Josh) Montemayor. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Lacey Burke, Laurel Burke, Lillie Burke, Emily Sheldon, Luke Sheldon, Logan Newby, and Kaelyn Montemayor. She was proceeded by her husband David.
Evy graduated from Elston High School in 1966. She then furthered her education in becoming a medical laboratory technician. She worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital for 19 years in the laboratory, taught for 8 years as a Lab Director for the Medical Assisting Program at Commonwealth Business College.
She then worked as a lab tech for Franciscan Health Medical group for 18 years before retiring. Evelyn and David Sheldon were married in 1972 and bought property in La Porte. They built a house and raised their children and had many animals including a herd of Shorthorn.
Evy learned how to tole paint and would paint many different flowers, hummingbirds, flamingos, and more on candles, gourds, patio blocks, and Christmas ornaments. She lovingly would give these to her friends and relatives. She is thankful for her loving family and good friends, especially Roseanna.
She will miss her children and grandchildren who always did so much for her. She loved going to concerts, always singing, and playing old tunes on the car radio and at home. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave.
, La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm and Friday, December 28, 2018, from 9:00 am till 10:00 am. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Friday December 28, 2018 at 10:00 am with Pastor Daniel Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
