Evelyn’s Obituary Evelyn Dorothy Minton was born February 27, 1922 to John and Viola Cain in Eagle City, Oklahoma and passed away on March 15, 2019 in Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 97 years and 16 days. Evelyn attended school at Garber and Oakwood, Oklahoma and graduating from Oakwood on May 22, 1940. On May 21, 1941 in Watonga, Oklahoma she married Selby Minton who was from Fay, Oklahoma.

To this union three children were born Harvey, Peggy, and Rhonda. They made their home in Fay, Oklahoma moving to Oakwood, Oklahoma in 1949 where they operated the Oakwood Garage and The Blue Bird Cafe. In 1952 Evelyn and Selby started custom harvesting in Hamlin, Texas then going on to Kansas, Wyoming, into San Luis Valley, in Colorado, and then back to Kansas for Corn Harvest.

They and their children made a lot of friends from state to state. They harvested for 27 years while continuing to operate Minton Garage, farming, and ranching. Evelyn made their home a welcome place for their children, spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She loved cooking for her family, relatives, and friends which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Her family was her pride and joy. She loved them dearly and was always there for them.

You could say she was the “glue” of the family. She supported her husband in all of his endeavors. His choice was her choice.

They were the loving couple and their family was very important to them. Evelyn was a member of the Oakwood Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. Our cherished memories of her will be with us forever.
