Obituary for Everett Gene Banks Dateline: Bethalto Everett Gene Banks, age 86, of Bethalto, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 24, 1931 in Elizabethtown, IL, the son of Willie and Edith (Moore) Banks. He married Ethel Fulcher on March 15, 1958, at the 1st Baptist Church in East Alton, she survives.
Everett worked for the Alton School District 11 for 30 years in maintenance as a painter. He worked for the Department of Forestry as a firefighter and timber operations in the Shawnee National Forest. He also worked at the Atom Bomb Plant in Kentucky.
Everett is survived by four children, Everett D. (Dee) Banks of Alton, Linda Banks of Bethalto, James “Eric” (Laurie Schneider) Banks of Alton and Justin Banks of Bethalto; six grandsons, David Owens II of Wood River, Bill Owens of Hartford, Justin Banks of Bethalto, Matthew Banks of Edwardsville, Jeffrey Edgar II of Moro and Josh Edgar of East Alton; as well as eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy (Banks) Bailey; sisters, Opal Foster and Dorothy Love; three brothers, Charles Paris, Georgie and James Banks. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, as well as on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10 am until time of services at 11 am at Cornerstone Church in Bethalto.
Pastor Erik Scottberg will officiate. Elisa, Kallal and Schaaf funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
