Obituary for Faatasiga Pele Fa’atasiga Su’esu’e Pele, aka “Sina”, a 79-year-old Malua, Western Samoa-born long-time resident of San Pedro, California, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends on June 9, 2018. Sina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Malaetasi Pele, her parents, Rev. Elder Su’esu’e S. & Vaituutu’u Lutu, and her siblings, Faalele (Fua) Su’esu’e, Rev.
Sue’su’e (Rosalina) Su’esu’e, Omaha Lutu, and Fa’au’aga (Futuaio’o) Achica. Devoted mother of Malaetasi (Joan ) Pele, Samuel Pele, Theresa Pele, Carolyn Pele, Richard (Reina) Pele, Eddie Pele, and Tonia St. Louis; proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; loving sister of Sa’u (Ita) Lutu, Afoa (Etenauga) Leulumoega Lutu, Silautiti (Faatupu-D) Su’esu’e, Tavita (Tiaoalii) Lutu, Matuaifale’ese (Avaoalii) Ale, and Tiresa (Rev. To’oolefua) Paogofie.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives both here and in Samoa. Sina was a medical records clerk with Little Company of Mary Hospital, aka San Pedro Peninsula Hospital for 31 years until her retirement in 2007. She enjoyed taking trips with her family to amusement parks, and watching them play sports, especially baseball.
Sina always enjoyed being with her family at church, at family parties and at BBQs. In her spare time Sina was fond of crossword puzzles, watching Family Feud, and was highly skilled at crafting jewelry and making beautiful Polynesian leis for family and friends to commemorate special occasions. Sina was a lifelong devout Christian and was active at Tapasa Ole Ola Samoan Christian Church in Wilmington, CA.

Although she had a very “no hold barred” type of strong personality she did everything in her life with great love for others and will be very fondly remembered as a God Fearing Christian, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, cousin, aunty and a great friend to everyone. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM with light refreshments served and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held the following day, Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Green Hills Memorial Park Chapel, 27501 S. Western Ave.
