Obituary for George Robertson Hillsinger George Robertson Hillsinger (June 4, 1926 – June 4, 2018) George Hillsinger died peacefully in his home on his 92nd birthday, surrounded by family. He wore an orchid lei, and held a picture of his beloved wife Patricia, to whom he was married 52 years, and with whom he is now reunited. Mr. Hillsinger proudly served his country during the Second World War as a Gunner’s Mate on a destroyer in the Pacific from 1943 until 1947.

Mr. Hillsinger was one of the most respected medical attorneys in Southern California. He earned his law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1950, and thereafter founded the law firm Hillsinger & Costanzo. He championed excellence, ethics and civility in the legal profession, and tried over 300 trials during his career.

Mr. Hillsinger was one of the original founding members of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He served on the California Bar Association’s Board of Governors and as its Vice President in 1974. He was a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and assisted in drafting the California Jury Instructions: Book of Approved Jury Instructions, a publication recognized for more than 50 years as the for civil jury instructions in California.

He was a graduate of the Strauss School of Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law, and a member of the California Medical Legal Committee, an invitation-only organization of the most experienced and skilled medical malpractice defense lawyers in California. Mr. Hillsinger was an inspiration to those who were lucky enough to have known him. He was kind to everyone, without exception.

He was a classical pianist, and loved to travel, especially to the south of France and Hawaii. Only weeks before his death, he was still taking French lessons and composing new musical arrangements on his piano. Mr. Hillsinger is survived by his son Charles.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his daughter Susan, and his son Lyle. He will be forever remembered by countless family, friends, and colleagues.
