Obituary for Faye Maxine Sigman Faye Maxine Sigman, age 99, went to be with the Lord on June 9th, 2018 in Corsicana, Texas. She was born on November 19th, 1918 to Jim Guy Cash and Esma Morris Cash in Post, Texas. She was the second of six children.
She was the loving wife of Carroll D. Sigman for 45 years until his death in 1990. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend to all. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim Guy Cash and Esma Morris Cash, her husband, Carroll D. Sigman, her brothers, C.C. Cash, Kendrick Cash, Robert Cash, and Jay Cash, and her sister, Hazel Louise Gardner.
She is survived by her son, Carroll M. Sigman and his wife, Elizabeth Sigman, and adopted daughter, Jan Appleman. Her extended family are grandson, Scott M. Sigman, his wife, Laurie and great grandchildren, Michael Sigman, Kathryn Sigman, Samuel Edmundson, Meri-Kate Edmundson and Cash Sigman, grandson, Robert C. Sigman, his wife, Anna and great grandchildren, Lauren Sigman and Doc Sigman; granddaughter, Rene M. Sigman, her partner, Nathan Cochran and great grandchildren, Blake Chandler, Luke Cochran and Kyla Cochran, granddaughter, Rhonda Sigman and wife, Tara Kelly, granddaughter Julie Wilson, her husband, Steve and great grandchild, Brandi Moore and her husband, Michael, great-great grandchildren, Ailey Moore, Ellie Moor, great granddaughter, Casey Gordon, her husband, Jarod and great-great grandchildren, Bennett Gordon and Gunner Gordon, grandson, Johnnie Brown, his wife, Jodi and great grandchildren, Chase Kuykendall, Aimee Kuykendall, Justin Brown, Jarret Brown, Emily Brown and Erik Wiley, granddaughter, Brigetta McClary, her husband, Sean and great grandchildren, William Powell, Ashton Powell, Christopher Powell and Katarina Powell, grandson, James Brian Appleman and great grandchildren, Ashley Appleman, Elizabeth Appleman and James Appleman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Maxine’s education began in Blythe, California.
After moving to San Antonio, she attended San Antonio College where she received her Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree. She then moved on to Our Lady of the Lake University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (BSBA) and a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance (MBA). She worked as a Head Bookkeeper for Mortgage Investment Corporation, a Teacher at Sidney Lanier and Robert E. Lee High Schools, and established the Vocational and Technical Program for the North East ISD at MacArthur High School in 1965.
She served as Assistant Counseling Director and Professor Emeritus at San Antonio College until retiring in 1980. While at San Antonio College, she was the driving force in the creation of the San Antonio College Women’s Center, a campus service which has grown to assist nearly 5000 women each year. She had a passion to assist other women needing guidance and mentoring to further their education.
She and her husband were one of the first pioneer members founding the University United Methodist Church when the church moved from Woodlawn Methodist Church in 1974. She was an active member of the Eugene Slater Class and cherished the many lifelong friendships established there. She was instrumental in assisting with the active preservation of the church’s history through the Archive department for 20 years.
She has received many awards including Historian Emeritus and the 2014 Legends Award from the Uprising Student Ministry. She and Carroll were life long active members of University United Methodist Church. Maxine loved the Lord, her Family, her Church and her Friends.
She displayed a true passion in all she attempted.
