Floetta Dowdy 90 of Taylorville, IL passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born in Harrisburg, IL to the late Joseph and Madge Reynolds Gwin on January 8, 1928. Floetta later married the late James L. Dowdy on January 8, 1945, which happened to be their birthdays.

Floetta was a Homemaker and worked at the A.L. Bowen Children’s Center and Harrisburg Hospital for a short time. She belonged to the Palestine Social Brethren Church for many years and was an elder in the church. She is survived by her children, James R. and wife Kathleen Dowdy of Edinburg, IL, Karen and husband Richard O’Halloran of Harrisburg, IL, Donna and the late Robert Scott of Taylorville, IL, and Carla and husband Scott Fowler of Warrier, AL.

One brother, Jack Gwin of Farwell, MI and 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren Floetta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James L. Dowdy and 6 brothers & sisters. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hunt officiating.

Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday at the J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home.
