Florence (Chamberlin) Neil Fleming, 98, formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Mayo Rehabilitation and Continuing Care Center in Northfield, VT. She was born on May 15, 1919, in Barnet, VT, daughter to Clarence and Hazel (Welch) Chamberlin and lived in the area her entire life. Florence was a very busy lady.

She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. But also, she was Waterford Town Treasurer, worked at Hovey’s giving lessons on the Singer Sewing Machine, volunteered at the hospital gift shop and the St. Johnsbury information booth for many years. Florence was a member of the Lower Waterford Church and the Church Ladies’ Circle.

In the winter, she attended the United Community Church in St. Johnsbury, VT. Above all else, Florence was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She is survived by 2 sons: Bernard Neil of Bellows Falls, VT, and James Neil and wife, Susan, of Cornish, NH; a daughter: Muriel Clark and husband, Robert, of Barre, VT; a step-son: Bryant Fleming and wife, Carolyn, of Waterford, VT; 2 daughters-in-law: Jennifer Fleming of Lyndonville, VT, and Andrea Neil of Glover, VT; a brother: James Chamberlin of Florida; 13 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Florence was predeceased by her first husband: Walter Neil; her second husband: Gordon Fleming; 2 sons: Walter Neil and David Neil; a step-son: Robert Fleming; a brother: William Chamberlin; and a sister: Ruthie Chamberlin who died as a child. There will be no calling hours. A funeral service officiated by Rev.

Anne Hockridge will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2018, 11AM, at Lower Waterford Church on Lower Waterford Road in Waterford, VT. Burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery on Rt 18 in Waterford. Guests are invited to a reception at the church following services.
