Floyd’s Obituary Floyd N. “Stub” Bright, 87, of Dakota, Minn. , passed away on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Floyd was born in La Crosse on August 24, 1931, to Roy and Laura (Hall) Bright and was raised on the northside of La Crosse.

He married Betty J. Hill on October 23, 1954, in La Crescent, Minn. , and they moved their home to Dakota. Betty preceded him in death in 2004.

Floyd served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by the La Crosse Trane Company for over 40 years until his retirement. He also volunteered with the Dakota Fire and Rescue for 23 years.

Floyd was a long-time, active member of Dakota Riverside United Methodist Church in Dakota. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting when he was younger and also enjoyed hunting for ginseng. In his later years, he enjoyed putting together puzzles.

Floyd is survived by a daughter, Diane Brown (special friend, Jim Beach) of Dakota; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Anthony) Wolowicz of La Crescent; four great grandchildren, Macie, Parker, Preston and Aidan Wolowicz; a brother, Kenneth (Faye) Bright of La Crosse; a sister-in-law, Sally Bright of La Crosse; and nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his wife, Betty, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Lorin “Buster” Bright; and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 15th, at Dakota Riverside United Methodist Church.

Pastor Jim Strum will officiate. Burial will take place in Bush Cemetery in rural Dakota at a later date. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on 6th Legacy and the Palliative Care team at Gundersen Health System with special thanks to Floyd’s wonderful caregivers, Sue McCann and Venetta Papenfuss.
