Obituary for Floyd Vink Floyd Vink passed away on April 14, 2018 at a local care facility. He was born on January 7, 1923 to Walter and Emma (Chittenden) Vink in their home on Lake Ave. in Spring Lake, Michigan and graduated from Grand Haven High School.

Floyd enlisted in the Army/Air Force and was stationed at Maxwell Field in Alabama repairing both B 24s and B 29s when he met and married Dorothy Kindle on October 5, 1945. They soon moved back to Spring Lake where he worked at Wachter Motor Sales and Bastian Blessing; from where he retired in 1985. Floyd was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union for 70+ years.

For his entire marriage, Floyd and Dorothy lived in a home that he built himself, by himself; including the exterior brickwork and fireplace; on Pruin Street, close to his grandparents’ homestead. He and Dorothy spent many weekends in Hesperia with the trailer club, “Happy Wanderers” and enjoyed traveling with their family, taking a different route across the US each time. Floyd was a Deacon, Elder and Usher at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church.

As an excellent wood worker, he built the kitchen cupboards and kitchen butcher block table when the current church facility was being constructed. He was also an active member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church Handy Andy’s and helped construct the Presbyterian Church pavilion next to the playground. His hobby was his yard.

His love was for God and his family. And for all who had the pleasure of knowing Floyd Vink, his life left us with a better understanding of a life well lived and a job well done. “Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”.

Floyd is survived by his sons: David (Carla) Vink, Jerry (Michelle) Vink and Peter (Charles Bridgeman) Vink. Grandchildren: Clinton (Toni) Vink, Sarah (Donald “Erik” Hermann) Vink, Megan (Daryl) Salyers and Lauren (Chris) Wright. Great-grandchildren: Graham Vink, Grant Vink, Gabriel Vink, Ellie Vink, Caleb Hon, Wesley Salyers, Lilly Wright and Adeline Wright.
