Francis’ Obituary Francis J. Miesen, 76, of Potosi, WI passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, WI. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18th at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI with Father Bernie Rott officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the church following the funeral service by Riemenapp-Averkamp-Stelpflug VFW Post #6455.

A private family burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 17th at the Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI and on Monday, February 18th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.

Francis was born on March 30, 1942 to Emil & Loretta (Reuter) Miesen in Harrison Township, WI. He married Dorothy A. Vaassen on August 20, 1966 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cuba City, WI. Together he & Dorothy worked on the family farm for over 50 years and he sold Dairyland Seed for 35 years.

He was a member of the US National Guard. Francis enjoyed farming, fishing, trips to Branson & the Dells, an avid card player that loved a good joke, playing with his grandkids, going to Katina’s Restaurant in Dickeyville, WI, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Francis is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy; 7 children: Cheryl (Dean) Drew of Fennimore, WI, Angela Miesen of Belmont, WI, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Miesen, Brian (Ann) Miesen both of Platteville, WI, Daniel Miesen of Belmont, WI, Michael (Stephanie) Miesen of Edgerton, WI and Karla (Jeff) Gratz of Lancaster, WI; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren with one on the way; 3 sisters: Marietta (Jerry) Pitzen, Charlotte (Jim) Kowalski and Catherine (Richard) Wagner; 2 brothers: Larry (Ann) Miesen and Maynard (Rita) Miesen, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunts and uncles. In lieu of plants & flowers a Francis J. Miesen Memorial Fund has been established.
