Francisco Flores October 10, 1951 – February 01, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Francisco Flores 1951-2019 Francisco (Frank) Flores (67) died on Friday morning, February 1st after a lengthy illness. Frank was born in Presidio, TX to Edubiges and Francisco Flores. At age 8, his father drove him to Austin to attend school at the Texas School for the Blind.

Later, his family moved to Artesia, NM, and Frank attended and graduated from the New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped (now the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired) in Alamogordo. He attended Eastern New Mexico University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Spanish. He stayed in Portales, NM for a number of years before moving to Alamogordo to work with recently blinded adults through Commission for the Blind.

He taught independent living skills, computer skills, PE, and independent travel. It was while working as a cane travel instructor that he met the love of his life, Oletha Griego. Together, they had two children, Jamie Rhiannon and Autumn Nizhoni.

Frank is survived by Oletha, Jamie (21) and Autumn (20) of the home. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Benito Flores of Roswell, José B. Flores (Cathy) of Lovington, George Flores of Artesia, and Rosa Flores Wells (Bill) of Artesia. Also surviving are his dogs, Odie and Joey, and many cats.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Edubiges and Francisco Flores, two brothers: Juan Manuel Montes and Javier Flores and one sister, Luz Maria Atole Wells. Frank was an avid reader, both in Braille and through talking books. He loved his family, he loved animals, he loved working with people and being of service to all.

He dedicated his life to a pursuit of peace and care among all beings. He is loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Remains have been cremated and there will be a memorial service scheduled in the spring.
