OBITUARY Francisco “Frank” Fitchett Mata April 14, 1933 – September 21, 2018 Francisco “Frank” Fitchett Mata, Sr., 85, of San Angelo, passed away at his home, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, September 21, 2018. He was born April 14, 1933 in San Angelo. Frank married Olga Navarette on January 13, 1971 in San Angelo.

He worked many years as a concrete man, taking great pride in the work he did. Frank was a jokester, loved to laugh and make others laugh too. He was a devoted Christian man, prayer warrior and had healing hands.

He was a giver of his heart, his possessions, and his time. He loved everyone with his full heart and everyone loved him. Frank had a heart for children and they gravitated to him everywhere he went.

Frank was known for his Stacey Adams shoes and hats. His “thumbs up” will be missed greatly and remembered with a smile and full heart. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Mata “Apa” and Ruben Jio “Daddy” and Matilda Jio; and siblings, Santiago Mata, Manuela Mata Garivay, Margaret Jio Munoz, Irene Mata Sanchez, and Udelia Mata Torres.

Survivors include his wife, Olga N. Mata; children, Francisco Mata, Jr., Sylvia Cooper, Anna Ortiz, Tommy Mata, Leslie Luera, Tanya Martinez, Victoria DePass, and Ricardo Martinez; 21 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings, Molly Reyes, Mary Martinez, Matilda Casillas, Lupe Jio, Ruben Jio, Jr., Olga Parks, Robert Jio, Manuel Mata, Jesse Mata, Brenda Jio Juarez, Sally Jio, and Nellie Jio Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 in the Johnson’s Funeral Chapel. Visitation will follow.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in the Christian Church of San Angelo. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are encouraged to share memories, send condolences, and sign the online guestbook at www.
