Obituary for Frank John Fiorito Frank John Fiorito of White Plains, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 13. He was 86 years old. Frank was born on August 30, 1931, in New Rochelle, NY, son of Chris and Mamie (Cioffoletti) Fiorito, and lived there until 1957 when he married his beloved wife of 61 years, Rosemary (Schaller) Fiorito of Mount Vernon.

In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his only son, John Frank Fiorito, and daughter-in-law Kate Hennigan, of Edgartown, MA; his sister Catherine (Kitty) LaVista and her husband Anthony LaVista, of Norwalk, CT; his niece, Debbie (LaVista) Abromaitis and her husband Jim Abromaitis, of Unionville, CT; grandniece Allie LaVista and her mother Joanne Amelung LaVista, both of Fairfield, CT; grandnephews Timothy Abromaitis of Tenerife, Spain, and Jason Abromaitis of Denver, Colorado; and his eight-month old grandson, John Frank Fiorito, Jr He is predeceased by his nephew, Anthony LaVista, and his younger brother Chris Fiorito. Frank will be remembered as a devoted family man.

As the oldest of three siblings, he spent his life in the role of big brother to Kitty and Chris, with whom he was always very close. He cared selflessly for his own parents, who were married for 74 years, until the day they died. A doting husband and loving father, Frank cherished time with his family, fondly remembering trips with his wife to Europe, the Caribbean, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and raising their son together: coaching John’s little league, taking him on fishing trips and ski vacations, and attending countless hockey games as a true number one fan.

Frank never thought he’d live to meet a grandchild, and beamed in the presence of his “little guy”. Throughout his life, Frank was an avid runner and golfer, and a man who loved traveling. He had a reputation for being able to fix anything, for being the consummate handyman.

His natural curiosity and penchant for figuring out how things worked led him to pursue many hobbies. He discovered a latent talent for painting when he decided to teach himself, and was tinkering with new technology and creating websites well into his eighties. Frank served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1952-1954, and spent his life working in various roles at IBM until he retired in 1991.

Additionally, he was a Master of the Lodge in the Free Masons. Known for his wit and sense of humor, Frank was a great storyteller with an independent and resilient spirit who deeply enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Family and friends will join to celebrate Frank’s life on Wednesday, May 16, at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ardsley, NY.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 15, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home, 64 Ashford Ave, Dobbs Ferry, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the White Plains Hospital Foundation (www. givetowphospital.org), an organization that provided Frank and his family with exceptional care and attention throughout his life and in his final days.
