Obituary for Frank Joseph Wilcheck Frank Joseph Wilcheck The Wilcheck Family shares in the loss of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Frank Joseph Wilcheck of Memphis, TN and Bonita Springs, FL, age 93, on May 9, 2018. Born April 1, 1925, Frank is survived by the love of his life, Mary Geoghegan Wilcheck, with whom he would have celebrated 73 years of marriage this summer. He also leaves behind 7 children—Michael Wilcheck (Sherron), Susan Jackson (Roy), Jane Burkhart, Mary Claire Campbell (Don), Anita Wilcheck, Frank Wilcheck (Amy) and Patrick Wilcheck (Cathy)—as well as 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many friends who are like family.
A founding member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Frank was deeply committed, yet incredibly private, with his faith. You could see this faith lived out in his service to others. Frank served our country in World War II, as a member of the United States Army Air Forces.
He was also deeply committed to providing for his family. Frank (known as “Pop” to those who loved him) had a genuine love for those around him. Because of that, everyone adored spending time with Frank, whether on his beloved golf course or sitting on his front porch for cocktail hour or ice cream.
He was always interested in what was going on with you—for with Frank, it was never about him. He could also be tough and wasn’t afraid to dole out a dose of reality, but at the same time, he loved to laugh. A conversation with Frank would always include laughter, perhaps even a chance to laugh at oneself.
Frank left this world in the same way that he approached the entirety of his life, simply and peacefully, just exactly as he wanted. His lessons in work ethic, commitment, love and humility will live on in the many he leaves behind. Private family services will be held May 21, 2018 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery officiated by Reverend Jolly Sebastian of St. Louis Catholic Church.
