Frank Rocco Di Taranto, Sr., 95, of Mifflinburg, entered into eternal rest at 12:05 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland. He was born March 25, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, the youngest son of the late Rocco and Louise (Iacullo) Di Taranto. On August 22, 1948, he married the love of his life, the former Carmela “Millie” Cauciello, who preceded him in death January 6, 2008.

Frank, honorably, served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a PFC and fought in the Battles of the Ardennes, Normandy, and the Rhineland. His occupational specialty was in Cannoneer Heavy Artillery, Unit 845.

Frank was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, and World War II Victory Medal for his service to our country. After working several jobs, he spent over thirty years as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of both Sacred Heart Church in Lewisburg and Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.

Frank loved and enjoyed being with his family immensely. Some of his favorite pastimes included playing golf, watching the New York Mets and New York Jets, and listening to big band music. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dennis Mullen of Mineville, NY, and Loretta and Larry Potash of Mifflinburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Frank, Jr. and Marie Di Taranto of Winfield; five grandchildren and their spouses, Allison and Keith Carrow, Eric and Erin Mullen, Gina and Rich Frank, Andrea and Phil Grande, and Aubrey Potash; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Dominick and Anna Di Taranto. Family and friends are welcome Thursday, May 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, May 10 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd. , Mifflinburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 814 St. Louis St., Lewisburg at 11 a.m., Friday, with the Rev. Mark Wilke, as celebrant. Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
