Franklin Wallace “Frank” Bruty, age 76, of Washington, Iowa, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his family following a brief battle with cancer. To honor and celebrate Frank’s life, the family will host a memorial visitation at Dallmeyer Hall/Washington County Fairgrounds on Thursday, May 30th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorials have been established for Hospice of Washington County or Marr Park.
Online condolences may be sent for Frank’s family through the web at www. jonesfh.com Frank was born September 29, 1942, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Walter Hubert and Evelyn Lorraine (Wallace) Bruty. He attended Red Brick Country School and graduated from Washington High School in 1961.
Frank was united in marriage to Kirtene Wells on April 5, 1962, in Washington, Iowa. Frank lived all of his life in Washington, Iowa, where he owned and operated Frank Bruty Construction. He previously worked at Hanson Concrete and for Bob Bruty Construction.
He enjoyed being outdoors where he would often be found hunting, fishing, mushrooming or riding his horses. He especially enjoyed being at his cabin and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Kirtene Bruty; daughter, Tina Bruty; daughter, Beth Paul; son, Greg “Bud” Bruty and wife Debbie; son, Walter Bruty; six grandchildren: Schuyler Paul, Whitney Paul and boyfriend Travis Swift, Paige Garrels and husband Tyler, Shanyn Paul and boyfriend Sean Cortum, Megan Bruty and Dalton Bruty; and four great-grandchildren: Layla Hesser, Sadie Paul, Kagan Bruty and Maxson Crawford all of Washington.
Frank is also survived by two sisters, Ellen Osborn and husband Ernie of Milan, Illinois; and Rita Mathes of Burlington, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Bryan; son-in-law, Steve Paul; two brothers, Hubert Bruty and wife Sherrill, and Robert Bruty; sister, Betty Cherryholmes and husband Gerald; and brother-in-law, Bill Mathes.
