Obituary for Fred Junior McGuire Jr. Fred McGuire, Jr It is with great sadness that the family of Fred McGuire, Jr., 61, announce the passing after a brief illness in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, September 15th due to acute respiratory failure from complications of cancer. Born September 18, 1956 in Decatur, Illinois to Fredrick and Gloria McGuire, he moved to Lexington, Kentucky as a young child.

He graduated from Bryan Station High School in 1974 as a member of ROTC, the Beta Club and the National Honor Society. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. His passion was music and learned to play the guitar at the age of 4.

His taste in music ranged from Jazz to Blue Grass to Rock. He played in many different types of bands since his early school years at Sayre to garage bands during his high school years. In most recent years, Fred’s new hobby became gourmet cooking with recreating many Julia Child’s recipes.

He also loved being in the kitchen baking all types of delightful pies and other treats to share with nearby neighbors. He is survived by his loving wife, Jayne, of 37 years, his brother Bill McGuire and wife, Barbara, and his sister Maryellen Boggess and husband, Lewis all of Lexington, Kentucky. Fred will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and life-long dear friends.
