Frederick J. Cornlius, died peacefully, at home in Moon Twp. , surrounded by family and friends on April 28, 2018. Born in McKees Rocks on November 21, 1939, son of John and Lillian Cornelius.

Much beloved husband for 48 years of Sandra Julius Cornelius; cherished father of Amy Cornelius Dembosky of Beechview and David Cornelius of Irwin; father-in-law of Jacob Dembosky and Kelly Cornelius; dear grandfather of Grace, Andrew, and Aaron. Brother of Robert Cornelius and Nina Ellis; brother-in-law of Kathy Ditch, Deborah Kossler, Margaret Cornelius, Rod Ellis, and the late Mary Jo Eaborn; special uncle of many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cornelius was a sergeant in the United States Army from 1962- 65.

Before moving to Moon Twp. , Fred lived in Findlay Twp. , Home, PA, and Carlton, PA, and was a longtime sales representative in the oil and gas industry.

He finished his career working with people with disabilities at Polk Center. Fred was a kind and patient caregiver, even helping his roommates in the hospital when he could. He was a member of the Ringold Band for many years, playing the tuba in countless parades and concerts.

Fred was a member of several Masonic organizations, including Crafton-Guyasuta Masonic Lodge #513, Chartiers Commandery #78, St. Clair Royal Arch Chapter #300, and was set to receive his 50 year pin from Islam Grotto on May 17. He was Past Master of Crafton Lodge #563. Fred attended of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Moon, where he participated in services by reading scripture.

Fred was an avid reader and loved studying history. He was a former Steeler season ticket-holder and loved the Penguins, too. Viewing Wednesday 1-4 & 5-9 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road, further viewing Thursday 9:30 -10:30 AM at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Beaver Grade Rd.

, Moon Township where a service will be held at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Sewickley Cemetery with military honors to be accorded. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Autism Caring Center, 7051 Steubenville Pike, Suite A1, Oakdale, PA, 15071; or VITAS Hospice Community Connection at vitascommunityconnection.org.
