Frederick Martin Paulson passed away unexpectedly from a hemorrhagic stroke, Thursday the 24th of May 2018 in Gig Harbor Washington. He was 85 years young. Fred lived in Santa Barbara and the North West on Puget Sound where he was born and raised.

He was an expert boatman, water skier, snow skier, and continued to play tennis all his life. He graduated from Stanford University cum laude, and was a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force. He married Gloria Jane Greenig on Christmas Eve in 1957 while stationed in Japan.

Their beautiful love story lasted 60 years and was an inspiration to all. He was a successful entrepreneur and real estate developer. He owned “United Homes” in Utah before moving to California where he and his eldest daughter started a national staffing company.

He continued his love of building, developing, and business projects in Washington State, where his family spent their summers. Retirement was never an option. Fred rose to any challenge with positivity and undeterred energy.

“Quit” was not in his vocabulary. He sought after, helped, lifted, and affected people in countless ways. Fred and Jane created a wonderful family leaving behind a legacy of strength for generations through Trishna Paulson, Shannon and Steve Sorensen, John and Janice Paulson, and Susan and Kent Funk.

They have 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Through them Fred’s influence and example will live on forever. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Friday, June 8th, 2018 @11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, 2107 Santa Barbara St. Santa Barbara, CA 93105.

Viewing @10:00 am for family and friends, graveside service to follow at the Goleta Cemetery. Fred’s youngest grandson, Kingston Frederick Funk suffers from Angelman’s Syndrome.
