Frederick Michael Oteri, 74, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away September 19,2018 at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina. He was born October 04,1943 in Audubon, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Michael Oteri and Ruth (Keen) Oteri.

Raised on a family farm, he milked cows and worked the fields growing up. After graduating from Scott High School in Coatesville, PA, Mr. Oteri joined the Marine Corps where he served our country for 10 years, 3 of those years were in the Vietnam War. He continued his education after the Marine Corps earning a Bachelor Degree in Business.

On August 15,1992, he married Joanne Cole Oteri of Wayland, New York. In 1997, Mr. Oteri founded and operated Royal Oaks Construction in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, until he retired in 2008. Many of the homes in Hunters Ridge Plantation were built by his company.

Each home was built with care and love “as if it were his own”. He also enjoyed his work as a successful professional freelance photographer. Many of his works were used in the New York Times.

Camping, cooking, cruising with family and friends were some of his favorite things to do. Mr. Oteri enjoyed traveling with his wife RVing across the country. One could never know where their next destination would be.

He even drove across the country to surprise his brother in law, Big Joe, in Texas just to say hello. Passionate about the game of golf, he became an expert golfer and looked forward to tee time with Del, Walter and his golf team, The Swingers. Family was very important to him and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them.

The holidays were a very special time. Preparing an elaborate menu and hosting family and friends from out of town brought him much joy. He was very proud of his son, Steve Oteri and daughter, Angela Held, and he treasured every visit with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Cole) Oteri, of 26 years, who he affectionately called his “sweetie”, his daughter Angela (Mike) Held, of Olmstead Ohio, his son Steve(Traci)Oteri of Waxhaw North Carolina, his sisters Emilia (Oteri)Miller of Parksburg, PA, Ruth (Oteri)Gureley of Huger, SC and his brother John Oteri of Brandymore, PA. , grandchildren Samantha Quinn, Anthony Quinn, Maria Quinn, Lauren Oteri and Katie Oteri. He was predeceased by his brother Christopher Oteri.

Fred touched many lives with his kindness, generosity and love for people. He dearly loved his family and friends. Mr. Oteri requested that there would be no funeral services, instead that he be remembered in the thoughts and hearts of those who knew him and loved him.
