CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA – Larry J. Lainey, 62, passed away on Wednesday, August 29th, 2018 after a courageous battle with CNS Lymphoma. Larry was born in St. Agatha, Maine on April 30th, 1956, the son of Harold & Jeanne ( Caron ) Lainey. Larry is survived by his mother Jeanne Lainey of Presque Isle, his wife of 38 years, Elaine Breen Lainey, their children Peter Lainey ( Christi ) and Lynda Lainey along with his 4 grandchildren Oliviya, Addison, Ayden and Ethan all of Conway South Carolina,.

He will also be missed by his siblings Rena ( Scott ) Carlin of Mapleton and Dan ( Jennifer ) Lainey of Yarmouth. He is also survived by extended family in England along with many adored nieces and nephews. Larry joined the Army after graduating from NMVTI, his duty took him to Texas, New Mexico, Germany and South Carolina.

He and Elaine enjoyed traveling; including Greece, England, Spain and Europe. Larry had a successful military career, specializing in radar electronics with the Hawke Missile Defense System, retiring as a WO3 ( Warrant Officer ) in 1996. After his military career he worked for Scientific Research Corporation, working with radars for them as well allowing him to travel into Antarctica.

Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, he paid extra attention to every one of them. Taking them to the beach, pool, movies and attending all concerts and school events. He enjoyed picking up odd jobs while caring for his wife.

In addition to his father Harold of Presque Isle, Larry was predeceased by a sister, Linda Lainey. There will be no visiting hours upon Larry’s request. A military service will be at a later date with burial in the Florence National Cemetary in Florence, SC.
