Obituary for Freida Grace Shlagel Freida Grace Shlagel of Lady Lake, Florida (formerly of Waldorf, Maryland), passed away peacefully on April 14, 2018 in Summerfield, Florida. She was born on August 13, 1923 in Waldorf, Maryland, the daughter of Otto and Mary (Koelbl) Shlagel. She worked for People’s Life Insurance Company in Waldorf, Baltimore, and Washington, DC for 40+ years.

She was a life-long member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and performed many charitable deeds, especially caring for others. She was well known for her chocolate cake with special white frosting and chocolate chip cookies. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Weinelt (Howard F.) and Mary Baumgartner (Albert); her brothers, Otto Shlagel and George Shlagel (Myra); her nieces, MaryJoan Baumgartner Lohr and Susan Shlagel; her nephews, Howard G. Weinelt, Ramon Baumgartner, and Joseph Shlagel; and her great-nephew, Eric Weinelt.

Freida is survived by her niece, Linda Weinelt Linsmeyer (Tim) of Summerfield, Florida; her nephews, Donald (Monica) Baumgartner, Steven (Patricia) Shlagel, and Russell (Eileen) Shlagel , both of Waldorf, MD; and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation on Monday, April 23, 2018 from 5-8PM with a Wake Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 10AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peter’s Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.

Interment to follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s School, 3320 St. Peter’s Drive, Waldorf, Maryland 20601. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Freida Grace Shlagel please visit our Sympathy Store.
