Burlington Garland Francis Forbes, 82, went to be with the Lord at his home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, December 14, 2018. He was born July 10, 1936 to the late Thomas and Cora Perry Forbes. Garland served in the US Navy for over 26 years and retired as Chief Petty Officer.

He was an Avionic Technician Chief during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy, he engaged in his favorite hobby of flying small planes for his enjoyment. He had the privilege… Read More » of traveling the world over during his time in service.

He also retired from Ametek in 2001 after 18 years of service as an electronic technician. He was an active member of Harvest Baptist Church and taught the Senior Saints Inspirers Bible Fellowship Class for over 20 years. He served in other various activities at the church for many years.

He was an avid reader and loved watching TV and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Marie Phillippie Forbes of the home; sons, James Hubbard and wife Teresa and Mark Hubbard and wife Lori all of Burlington; sister, Hettie Moore of Graham and brother Herman Forbes and wife Laura of Burlington; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 2:30pm Monday, December 17, 1928 at Harvest Baptist Church by Rev.

Larry Lamberth, Senior Pastor and Rev. Dave Winstead, Pastor of Senior Saints Ministry. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:15pm, prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Veterans Section of Alamance Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Senior Saints Ministry at Harvest Baptist Church; 3741 S. Church St., Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell; 914 Chapel Hill Rd. , Burlington, NC.
