Obituary for Gary Conrad Varsel Gary Conrad Varsel, 71, of Kosciusko, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his residence. Born August 3, 1946 to Philip Varsel and Helen Culpepper Varsel in Charleroi, PA. As the son of a career military officer, he decided early that the military was the career for him as well.

He accepted every challenge life offered and conquered the challenge, and his goals to achieve all the things that interested him. He served four tours in Vietnam and then moved on to Ranger school and then to Special Forces. Master parachutist, combat diver and mountaineer all intrigued his interest and he mastered them.

After retirement from the military he attained his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree. He was awarded the Presidential Scholar award, one of only 200 in the U.S. that year. Challenge was his need, learning and accomplishment his reward.

He met and won all that he undertook. He is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Helen Varsel, and a sister Sandra Cardinal. He leaves his wife Beverly Crosby Varsel and five children, daughters, Kimberly Tika Yeager, Emily Christine Potteiger, Brittney N. Varsel; sons, Michael Andrew Varsel and Adam Stewart Varsel, and grandchildren, Luke Yeager, Eric Yeager, Nathan Walker and Madison Potteiger.

He is survived by his brothers, Philip Varsel and Paul Varsel.
