He was born November 27, 1949 in Walnut Ridge, AK to Charles and Alice Collins (Axton). Gary proudly served in the United States Army and made a career for himself as a Steelworker.

He married Mary Berndt on September 30, 2000 at a ceremony in Three Oaks, MI. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary; his mother, Alice; sons, Brian Collins, Michael (Debra) Collins; step-son Andrew Alexovich; daughters, Kelly (Ron) Donkersloot, Allison Collins; sisters, Peggy Collins-Zilinger, Debbie (Don) Lewis; and six grandchildren with one on the way. He is preceded in death by his father as well as a brother, Donnie Collins.

A celebration of life will be held by the family at American Legion Post 169, 19121 US-12, New Buffalo, MI 49117 on Sunday, March 17th at 2pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.
