OBITUARY Gary L. Gumbert March 10, 1946 – December 2, 2017 Gary L. Gumbert peacefully passed on Sunday, December 2, 2018, Gary L. Gumbert, loving husband to Karen Gumbert and father of five children, passed away at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his family and childhood friend John McLaughlin at Parkview Regional Hospital. Gary was born on March 10, 1946 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Paul and Emma (Baron) Gumbert.

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he graduated from North Side High School in 1964. He was employed at International Harvester 20+ years. Working at North American Van Lines is where he met the love of his life, Karen.

He then went on to become a certified real estate appraiser until his passing. On December 23, 1985 he married Karen Marie (Anderson) Parrish. They raised four daughters, Lisa, Lori, Michelle, Angela and one son Ronnie.

Gary had a passion for his children, grandchildren and great-grandsons. He loved to feed the squirrels and birds, traveling, grilling for his family, IU basketball and Colts football. He was known for his useless information, his wise cracks, kind heart, giving hand and generous gift giving.

He is survived by his beloved wife Karen of 32 years, daughters Lisa (Alan) Reinke, Lori (Mark) Mayers, Michelle (Keith) Richey and Angela (Terry) Emenhiser and a son Ronnie Parrish. Grandchildren; Erica (Luke) Decker, Megan (significant other Paul Eicher) Kohler, Mariah (fiancée Ray) Emenhiser, Jessica Reinke, Alec (fiancée Bree) Emenhiser, Keila Emenhiser, Griffin McFarland, Brienna Reinke and Emma Mayers. Great grandsons Grayson Eicher, Braxton Eicher and Bentley Eicher and Sister Joy Conrad.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Emma Gumbert and Brother Paul Jr. Gumbert. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 8th at D O McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana at 10 o’clock a.m. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday December 7th at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to American Cancer Society.
