Obituary for Gay L. Moody Gay Laflin Moody, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, November 1, 2018. A native of Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Ellsworth and Lois Avirl Laflin. Entirely devoted to her family, Gay loved her grandchildren along with traveling, reading and dancing.

She retired from the Spartanburg County Public Defender’s Office after more than 30 years of service and was a member of Wellford Baptist Church as well as the R& B Shag Club of Spartanburg. Survivors include her daughters, Meredith Moody Heffner of Spartanburg, SC and Marla Moody Kuhne (Trey) of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Amanda Heffner, Alexis Heffner and TJ Heffner, all of Spartanburg, SC; and sister, Dale Laflin Kelly (Ray) of Spartanburg, SC. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 309 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by The Rev.

Dr. Trey Kuhne and The Rev. Dr. Paul M. Petersen. Visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pathways Pastoral Counseling, 400 Dupre Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307, or to Friends of the Spartanburg County Public Library, 151 S.
