OBITUARY Gene V. Mallory October 26, 1946 – November 7, 2018 Gene Vernon Mallory, 72, of Doswell, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia C. Mallory and H. W. Mallory, Sr.; and his first wife, Susan J. Lawson. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Mary M. Borum (Herman Duke, Jr.) and Kathy M. Richardson (Jessie); five grandchildren, Bobby, Braxton, Jessica, Jason, and Ginny; great-granddaughter, Tinleigh; brother, H.W. Mallory, Jr.; sisters, Juanita M. Randolph (Ron) and Shirley M. Kyger (Erich); and two nephews, Ryan and Colin.

Gene was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors, whether he was spending time in his boat, hunting in the woods, or planting in his garden and harvesting its bounty. Gene was a skilled master meat cutter having worked at Colonial Stores, Ukrops, Safeway, and Food Lion for over 40 years.

He was also a gifted mechanic always willing to help others by working on their lawnmowers, boats, or cars. Gene was “a good guy” and he will be missed. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 9, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home – Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd.

, Mechanicsville, Va. 23116, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries, P.O. Box 90778, Henrico, Va.
