Genevieve A. Krause, 89 of Zanesville, passed away October 25, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Merle Dean Krause Sr., who was the love of her life for seventy-one years. She was born August 17, 1929 in Pontiac, Michigan, daughter of the late Walter Spicer and Hazel Viola Hewitt Spicer.

She was active in all her children’s activities including 4-H and West Muskingum Band Boosters. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and was loved by all. Genevieve enjoyed spending time at family gatherings, especially the holidays.

She had many hobbies including crocheting afghans, sewing, gardening and reading. She will be missed for her smile and her beautiful blue eyes. She is survived by her children, Laura Mummey, Richard (Linda) Krause, Robert Krause, Debra Cordray, Merle Dean (Suzanne) Krause Jr., Mary Jane (Ted) Glosser, Gayle Krause, Lisa (Francis) Getter; sister, Shirley (Jerry) Wells; sister-in-law, Nancy (Phil) Schlaegel; brother-in-law, Frank Gilbert; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kay Elley; two son-in-law’s, Carl Elley and Al Cordray; sisters, Kathleen Westinghouse, Betty Chalfant, Mary Ann Saylor and Rosemary Leonard. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will take place Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Wahl officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery.
