George Frederick (Buck) Steading George Frederick (Buck) Steading, 95, died Saturday, October 6, 2018. He was born March 7, 1923, in Greenville, SC to Theophilus Walter and Eunice Grist Steading and was a 1940 graduate of Greenville Senior High School. A veteran of WWII, he served in the Eighth Air Force, followed by a 40 year career with Southern Bell in SC.

Surviving are sons, Dave (Terri) of St. George, UT, Rob (Sheree) of West Columbia, SC, Walt (Deb) of Matthews, NC, and Bryan of Lexington, SC; along with 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Alma D. Steading of Greenville, SC. Fred was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie C. Steading, a son, George F. Steading, Jr.; a sister, Ruth S. Sharpe and a brother, T. Walter Steading. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Grace Baptist Church, 416 Denham Avenue, West Columbia, SC where he was a member.

The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. B. Clayton Shumpert and Rev.

Bill Egerdahl. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
