George H. Wyers Jr., 66, of Wakeman, OH, passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Saturday, April 21, 2018. He was born in Amherst, OH on November 7, 1951 to George and Betty Wyers. George served his country in the U.S. Army from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1973.

He returned home and on November 24, 1973, he married his love, Karen (nee DeBerry). George worked at U.S. Steel as a diesel mechanic for 44 years, retiring in 2014 from Republic Steel. George was passionate about restoring motorcycles, automobiles and hotrods from mechanical repair to painting.

He also enjoyed his hotrods, motorcycles, gardening, fishing, and most of all spending time with his family and friends, especially his cherished granddaughter, Renee. He is survived by his wife, Karen (nee DeBerry) Wyers of Wakeman; children, Michael Wyers of Lorain and Jennifer Hylton of Lorain; granddaughter, Renee Hylton; and brothers, Richard (Sharon) and Bart (Jean) Wyers. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Betty Wyers; and brother, Terry Wyers.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 6:00 PM, Rev. Harold Hylton, officiating. Memorial donations may be made in George’s memory to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
