George’s Obituary George Hanson Services for George M. Hanson, 77, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Ada Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Brian Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home. Mr. Hanson passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at a local hospital. He was born December 15, 1941 in Ada to Julius M. and Myrtle Aaron Hanson.

He attended Hayes Elementary, Ada Junior High and graduated from Ada High School. George received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Bethany Nazarene College (now Southern Nazarene University) in May, 1964, and a Master’s degree from East Central University. He married Judy Timmons August 7, 1964 in Ada.

Mr. Hanson was a school teacher in Tohatchi, NM for nine years; Corsicana, TX for seven years; and taught at Byng Jr. High and Homer Elementary from August 1987, retiring May, 2003. In addition to teaching, he enjoyed 50 plus years of umpiring baseball and softball. George was a longtime member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene where he served as a Sunday School teacher and on the church board.

He also served on the Advisory Board for the Oklahoma District Church of the Nazarene and on the Board of Trustees at Southern Nazarene University. He was active in Gideons International and Kairos Prison ministry for many years. Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; a daughter, Gina Hanson Allen and husband Ralph of Belleville, IL; son, John David Hanson and wife Michelle of Ada; his grandchildren, Brianna Hanson Jennings and husband Brett of Ada, Emily Allen Meads and husband Parker of Oklahoma City, Sydney Allen of Belleville, IL and Carter Hanson of Ada; a sister, Betty Hanson Stevens of Ft.

Worth, TX; sisters-in-law, Linelle Ellis, Ada and Zela Hanson, Tulsa; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Paul, Bill and Roy Lee Hanson. Bearers will be Carter Hanson, Brett Jennings, Parker Meads, Brian Hanson, Steve Ellis and Darrick Ellis.
