George’s Obituary George I. Allen Sr., 86 Korean War Veteran Fitchburg-George I. Allen Sr., 86, died peacefully Sunday, December 30, 2018 in HealthAlliance Hospital, Leominster surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Somerville, Ma, November 21, 1932, a son of the late George C. and Gwendolyn (Steeves) Allen and has lived in Fitchburg for many years. George is survived by his beloved wife, Ann E. (Bowen) Allen; his son, George I. Allen, Jr. and his wife; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

George was predeceased by one brother, Gordon I. Brown and one sister, Dorothy Bastek. George graduated from Somerville High School and attended Bentley College. He had a passion for learning and earned several trade certificates.

He was very handy and worked many jobs over the years including Kelly Wood, Hood Milk and Frye Boot. He was a proud United States Airforce Veteran of the Korean War. George also served in the United States Army Reserve for six more years.

George was interested in the legal system and later in life he earned a certificate as a paralegal. In his spare time, George loved bowling. Burial with full Military Honors will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10am in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon.

There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Montachusett Veteran’s Outreach, 268 Central St. Gardner, MA 01440. The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and the Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 243 Water St., Fitchburg has been entrusted with the care of George’s arrangements.
