George Jefferson Powell, Jr., 69 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday November 5, 2018 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on April 12, 1949 in Cairo, IL to George and Gladys Montgomery Powell. George retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service, and retired as a Dispatcher from the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, IN.

He was also a member of the American Legion Post 335 and the V.F.W. Post 1427. George was preceded in death by his first wife, Theo Powell, his second wife, Annette Powell, his parents and a sister Debra Miller. Survivors include his brother, Jerry Powell of Prospect, KY; sisters, Pat Stivers of Marysville, IN and Janet Haworth of Jeffersonville.

Life Celebration services will be held at 1 pm on Friday November 9, 2018 at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 pm to 8 pm on Thursday and after 9 am on Friday.
