George R. Schomig, age 69, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 with his loving family by his side. George is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Schomig (nee Baudek); children, Michael Schomig, Rhonda Schomig, Daniel (Krista) Schomig, and Keith (Michaelene) Schomig; grandchildren, Austin, Noelani, Gabriella, Charlotte, Joey, and Sebastian; siblings, James (Janet) Schomig and Jan (Lee) Henning; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Jeannette Schomig; brother, LeRoy “Butch” Schomig; sisters, Jean Lee and Joan Wever; and father and mother-in-law, Joe and Lorraine Baudek.

George was born and raised in Joliet, IL. In 1969, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably in the Vietnam War as a Sergeant in the 1st Marine Division. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was very proud of his family.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
