Rhome, Texas ~ George Ray Hines, 81, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Baylor Hospital in Grapevine surrounded by family. Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Aurora Baptist Church with burial in Aurora Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Jimmy Withers will officiate. Pallbearers include Phillip Pratt, Jeremy Pratt, Jordan Hines, Joel Pratt, and J.D. Sessler. George was born on February 1, 1937 in Denton Co., Texas to George W. and Nina Bell Moore Hines.

He was a man of many talents and a proud husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. George was a manger of equipment engineering for Bell Helicopter for 34 years, a man who loved to travel, especially Costa Rica where he had many friends. He built his own airplane many years ago and never lost his love for aviation.

His ability to build, fix or repair almost anything amazed his family and friends and his was happy to share his knowledge with his grandsons. He was an avid gardener as was his father before him. Many were happy recipients of his abundant gardens.

He loved to spend time with local friends, playing dominoes and sharing stories. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Myrtice Winans; his first wife Linda Paul Harper Hines; his son in law, Joseph Pratt. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 12 years, Juanita Hines of Rhome; his brothers, Dan Hines and wife Carolyn, and Sim Hines and wife Alice; his aunt, Marie Moore of Rhome, his daughters, Brenda Hines-Pratt, Debbie Hines-Wilkinson and her husband Michael; daughter by marriage, Cindy Sessler and husband Dan; son by marriage, Larry Smith and his wife Jean; his grandchildren, Christal Douglas, Phillip Pratt and his wife Denise, Jeremy Pratt and his wife Melissa, Jordan Hines and his wife Megan, Jonette Phegley and her husband Brian, Jelayne Sessler, Joel Pratt and his wife Calandra, J.D. Sessler, and Aaron Smith and wife Lynn; great grandchildren, Aaron Wilkinson, Taylor Douglas, Hannah Burd, Landon and Caleb Pratt, Addyson West and Chandler Phegley, Connor Pratt, Ava and Rowan Hines, and Olivia Pratt; he will be sorely missed by his family and a host of friends.
